Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging eLearning
A mobile‑friendly Rise 360 course that helps employees understand our organization’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Project Overview
The Challenge: Human Resources required a rapid-deployment solution to communicate the organization’s commitment to an inclusive workplace. The challenge was to transform extensive, pre-gathered HR content into a streamlined, high-engagement experience that was accessible to a deskless and mobile workforce.
The Goal: Deliver a polished, responsive eLearning module within a tight deadline that maintained 100% accessibility across all employee devices.
Strategic Solutions
1. Rapid Development & Responsive Design
I selected Articulate Rise 360 as the primary development tool to leverage its fluid-responsive framework. This ensured a "device-agnostic" experience, allowing employees to engage with the training during the flow of work, whether on a desktop, tablet, or smartphone.
2. Enhancing Cognitive Engagement
To move beyond passive reading of HR policies, I utilized Performance Mapping techniques to identify key concepts that required reinforcement. I incorporated interactive elements including:
Interactive Reveals & Flip Cards: Used to chunk complex information, reducing cognitive load and encouraging active exploration.
Embedded Knowledge Checks: Strategically placed to provide immediate feedback and ensure the retention of core inclusion principles.
3. Stakeholder Alignment & Prototyping
To ensure the visual identity met corporate branding standards, I developed a Two-Section Functional Prototype. This allowed stakeholders to evaluate the UI/UX design and engagement level early in the process. This iterative approach secured rapid approval and minimized revisions during the final build phase.
Key Results & ROI
Accessibility: Successfully deployed a 100% mobile-friendly course, fulfilling the requirement for universal employee access.
Time-to-Market: Met all aggressive internal deadlines through rapid-prototyping and agile development.
Catalog Integration: Delivered a foundational asset to the HR Training Catalog that serves as a cornerstone for organizational culture onboarding.
Future Iterations: Moving Toward Narrative
While the Rise 360 version optimized for speed and accessibility, a future iteration could utilize Storyline 360 to incorporate a branching, character-driven narrative. This would shift the focus from "Understanding" to "Application," allowing employees to practice navigating real-world inclusive leadership scenarios in a safe-fail environment.
